Nothing comes much closer to a fairytale than this. I never posted this because I wasn’t sure if the dress was ‘cheesy’ or not. Now, going back through my old footage I’ve decided to revisit this shot and see what you guys think of it.

I’m still going through the heaps of photos from this crazy day. Borneo has so much happening right below the surface and we were lucky enough to stumble upon this incredible feeding frenzy. . @josiahwg and I kept swapping cameras during this dive, so we just have a big pile of photos and have no idea who took each one 😂 Pro tip: swap cameras with someone like Josiah because he’ll take better photos than you.

This is one of the captures I am the most proud of. I stood hours in the pouring rain in a storm. This was just after the storm was over. #nola #louisiana #mardigras #followyournola #frenchquarter #repost #travel #love #jazzfest #livemusic #igersneworleans #showmeyournola #photography #instagood #igersnola #fashion #a #b #usa #neworleans #travel #wanderlust #Wandering #solotravel #travel #Usashots #sonyshooter #Travelphotographer #Travelphotography #wander

Eva Zubeck

WHAT’S THE SITUATION WITH COVID-19 ON SOCOTRA ISLAND? This is DAY 21 on the island, and as we enter a new month, I want to update you on the local situation. First and foremost, according to the local health authorities, there is no Coronavirus on Socotra Island. All the foreigners here were examined by a doctor, as a safety precaution, in the first week of our stay. Everyone is healthy. Flights haven’t been arriving for 21 days. Domestic passenger boats have been on hold for around 2 weeks. Cargo boats have been asked to quarantine for several days on the sea before coming in to port, but a regular stream of supplies continues to come in for the local population of 60k people. It seems like the authorities are doing a good job at isolating the island. I used to call this our “desert island quarantine” but I’ve now realized that was a mistake, because there is no quarantine on Socotra. People here are lucky to be able to continue as normal. For many of my friends around the world, the quarantine means being confined to the walls of their urban home, and that’s a much stricter reality than the one we are living. Our Socotri friends have been deeply welcoming, and of course some have offered to find me a local husband so I can live here forever. 😅🙈 I don’t think I’m quite there yet! I should also add, I’m not the only foreigner here. There are around 15 in total – all have been here as long as, or longer than me. Some stayed willingly and others didn’t have a choice – they missed the last commercial flight off the island. Some of us have become friends and are staying in the remote eastern corner of Socotra, where the Arabian Sea meets the Indian Ocean. The closest shop and antenna (where I can get internet, like now) are two hours away by motorbike. In between hiking and writing, I’m working on a couple of local community projects which I’d love to bring to life if I stay here a bit longer, and if things continue to be this calm here. One is related to raising local awareness about the plastic problem across the island, and the other – to preserving the local heritage. That’s my reality for a while to come. What’s yours? Sending you my love! 💛🙏

WHAT WE SEEK ISN’T THE MEANING OF LIFE, BUT THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING ALIVE. These words by Joseph Campbell have been a huge source of inspiration in my work, life and travels. It’s the euphoria as you realise you’re sitting on a pile of iron ore, speeding across the Sahara in the night with no safety barriers. It’s the awe as you wake up to a sunrise over the desert, and you realise that in the pale light of dawn, you could as well be on the moon. It’s that brief moment of disbelief in what you’re actually doing. That this uncomfortable freedom ride is still possible in a world so carefully regulated. It’s the fury of abandon. The Mad Max fantasy. The unfiltered rawness. It’s the dust in your hair, the shirt you haven’t washed in days because you’re too busy living, it’s the dirt under your fingernails that just won’t go away, it’s the unwavering focus on the big things that really matter. It’s the euphoric, indescribable joy at crossing a new barrier of discomfort. If you dare, this is where you might find yourself the most alive. Baderkhan Amer Badran

The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time! ⠀ I had no clue about the beauty & diversity of ethiopia at all! As i finished my eye opening adventure trip in southern ethiopia, instead of taking rest I directly jumped into the northern part! I can rest when I die 😅 The Eritrean-Ethiopian border is famous world wide for its instability! And all governments advice against traveling to this no mans land! ⠀ And all what I faced while sleeping under the sky was a wild donkey pop up close to my bed in the middle of the night hahha ⠀ Early in the morning with the rise of the sun we got awarded to the surreal landscape of dallol acid lake! Mother Nature with its neon green yellowish orange red dress! ⠀ Imagine if I listened to the exaggerated government's advisory warning, and waited till they give green light! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ EN | Is this a typical case of Instagram vs reality (swipe left)? 😱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No, I did not use Photoshop and there are no crowds standing behind the photographer waiting for their Insta moment. If you are willing to be there at 6 AM, you will have this worldwonder completely for yourself! 🙌🏻 Petra is magical anyway, but it is way more incredible if you don't have to share it with others!❤️😭❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In case you’re wondering: the first photo was taken at 6:30 AM and the second at 10:30 AM. Do you get up early to avoid the crowds while travelling? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #jordan #shareyourjordan #petra #treasury #worldwonder #instagramvsreality
