DJ Hardwell is inspired by India

Hardwell is one of the biggest DJ’s in the world. In India he saw homeless children sleeping under one of his billboards. It touched him so deeply that he decided to help them.

A gigantic dance concert free for everyone which supports children living in the slums of India. It sounds too good to be true, but that’s what the world famous Dutch DJ Hardwell did. Together with charity organization Magic Bus he was responsible for Hardwell’s World’s Biggest Guestlist, an event of three days with which money was raised in the beginning of December to send children in India to school.

„The first time I was in India, I was confronted with homeless children. They were sleeping under my own billboard”, the DJ tells Metro. „That touched me so deeply that I thought: the next time I’m here, I want to do something back”. That turned out to be World’s Biggest Guestlist. „In other words, one big guestlist. No one pays an entrance fee. The festival’s revenues were for my foundation and Magic Bus. We want to help as many children as possible with education in India.”

Hardwell previously held such an event in Mumbai. „To return 2,5 years later and stand face to face with children whom you’ve helped, that’s an unforgettable experience. Then you really see for whom you do it.” Hardwell also saw that at the schools he visited in India. He remembers one girl in particular. „She told that her parents wanted to arrange her marriage when she was ten years old. She was abused and wanted to end her life. She ended up in the Magic Bus program and now, two years later, she’s going to take up a study. She will become a nurse. Just recently she didn’t want to live anymore and now she’s going to help others.”

Most children in India would love to go to school. „The biggest problem is to actually get the children out of the slums”, the DJ says. „Young girls are often married off, boys don’t get the chance to go to school. Magic Bus is committed to actually send them to school. Often there’s nothing they would like more. Everyone wants a chance to obtain a better life.” That’s not expensive, Hardwell says. „By heart, it’s 175 euro’s for seven years of education a child.”

The second edition of World’s Biggest Guestlist was a success, according to Hardwell. „It was great! People give you so much love. Everyone is partying, with the goal to help children.” Some children were at the festival themselves. „They were never at a dance event before. Children who, so to speak, didn’t have anything two years ago and were dancing now. That’s great.”

And now? Can we expect influences from India in his music? „January and February are, apart from three or four shows, blocked for the studio again. India certainly is an inspiration for me. It really is one extreme to another. Bollywood music is written on completely different scales than our music here. That’s precisely why it may be very interesting. I also have met several musicians from India, so who knows in the future…”

डी जे हार्डवेल भारत से प्रेरित हैं

हार्डवेल दुनिया के सबसे बड़े डी जे में से एक हैं| भारत में उन्होंने बेघर बच्चों को अपने होर्डिंगों में से एक के नीचे सोते हुए देखा| इस बात ने उन्हें इस तरह छू लिया कि उन्होंने उनकी मदद करने का निर्णय कर लिया|                                                                                                                                             

एक विशाल नृत्य संगीत कार्यक्रम जो कि सभी के लिए नि:शुल्क होगा, भारत की झोपड़पट्टियों में रहने वाले बच्चों की मदद करेगा| यह सच लगने के लिए बहुत अच्छा है,लेकिन यह वही है जो कि विश्व प्रसिद्ध डच्च डी जे हार्डवेल ने किया है| वह चैरिटी संगठन मैजिक बस के साथ मिलकर हार्डवेल की दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी अतिथिसूची बनाने के लिए जिम्मेदार थे, तीन दिन का एक कार्यक्रम जिससे कि दिसंबर की शुरुआत में भारत में बच्चों को स्कूल भेजने के लिए पैसे जुटाए गए थे|

डी जे ने मेट्रो से कहा “जब मैं पहली बार भारत में गया था, मेरा सामना बेघर बच्चों से हुआ| वह मेरे होर्डिंग के नीचे सो रहे थे”| “इसने मुझे इतनी गहराई से छुआ कि मैंने सोचा: जब भी मैं अगली बार यहाँ आऊंगा, मैं इनके लिए कुछ करना चाहूँगा”| और वह दुनिया कि सबसे बड़ी अतिथिसूची बन गई| “दुसरे शब्दों में, एक बड़ी अतिथिसूची| कोई भी प्रवेश शुल्क का भुगतान नहीं करेगा| इस उत्सव की आय मेरी संस्था और मैजिक बस के लिए थी| हम भारत में जितना संभव हो सके उतने बच्चों की मदद शिक्षा के साथ करना चाहते हैं|”

हार्डवेल ने पहले भी ऐसा ही एक उत्सव मुंबई में भी किया था| “2 से 5 साल के बाद वापस आना और उन बच्चों के साथ आमने-सामने खड़े होना जिनकी आपने मदद की है, यह एक अविस्मरणीय अनुभव है| तब आप वास्तव में देखते हैं कि आपने यह किसके लिए किया है|”  हार्डवेल ने यह भारत के उन स्कूलों में भी देखा जहाँ वह गए थे| वह विशेष रूप से एक लड़की को याद करते हैं| “उसने बताया था कि जब वह दस वर्ष की थी उसके माता-पिता उसकी शादी करवाना चाहते थे| उससे दुर्व्यवहार किया गया और वह अपना जीवन समाप्त करना चाहती थी| वह मैजिक बस कार्यक्रम से जुड़ गई और अब, दो वर्षों के बाद, वह एक अध्ययन शूरू करने जा रही है| वह एक नर्स बन जाएगी| अभी हाल ही में वह और अधिक जीना नहीं चाहती थी और अब वह दूसरों की मदद करेगी|

भारत के अधिकांश बच्चे स्कूल जाना पसंद करते हैं| डी जे कहते है कि “सबसे बड़ी समस्या वास्तव में उन बच्चों को झोपड़पट्टीयों से बाहर निकालना है|” “युवा लड़कियों की शादी कर दी जाती है, लड़कों को स्कूल जाने का मौका नहीं मिलता| मैजिक बस वास्तव में उन्हें स्कूल भेजने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। अकसर ऐसा कुछ नहीं है जिसे कि वह इससे ज़्यादा चाहते हों। हर कोई एक बेहतर जीवन को पाने का मौका चाहता है|” हार्डवेल कहते हैं कि यह महँगा नहीं है| “सच में, एक बच्चे की शिक्षा के सात साल के लिए 25 यूरो का खर्च आता है।“

हार्डवेल के अनुसार,विश्व की सबसे बड़ी अतिथिसूची का दूसरा भाग सफल रहा। “वह बहुत अच्छा रहा ! लोग आपको बहुत सारा प्यार देते हैं| बच्चों की मदद करने के लक्ष्य के साथ, हर कोई जशन मना रहा है|” कुछ बच्चे खुद भी उत्सव में शामिल थे| “वह पहले कभी एक नृत्य आयोजन में नहीं गए थे| ऐसे बच्चे, जिनके पास बात करने के लिए, दो साल पहले कुछ नहीं था और अब वह नृत्य कर रहे थे| यह बहुत अच्छा है|”

और अब? क्या अब हम उनके संगीत में भारत के प्रभाव की उम्मीद कर सकते हैं? “जनवरी और फ़रवरी, तीन या चार शो के इलावा, फिर से स्टूडियो के लिए बुक हैं| भारत निश्चित रूप से मेरे लिए एक प्रेरणा है| यह वास्तव में एक चरम से दुसरे तक है| हमारे संगीत की तुलना में बॉलीवुड संगीत पूरी तरह से अलग पैमानों पर लिखा जाता है| यही कारण है कि यह बहुत दिलचस्प हो सकता है| मैं भी भारत से कई संगीतकारों को मिला हूँ, तो भविष्य में किसे पता…”
