De geruchten over de next-gen consoles van Microsoft en Sony worden steeds hardnekkiger en ook de vraag naar nieuwe hardware vanuit de devs en de gamers wordt steeds groter. Toch hoeven we ons nog even niet te vervelen op de PS3, want Sony laat weten dat de line-up voor de komende 3 jaar fantastisch is! John Koller, vice president van hardware en marketing, laat dit weten:
"A lot of great content is coming, and over the next 2-3 years, the PS3 has got an incredible lineup. We're going to continue supporting the PS3 for the next few years. Absolutely. And we're going to continue supporting it not only that long, but as long as there is a development spigot that's running hot. And I can tell you right now, the development spigot for PS3 is very hot. A lot of great games coming. Same thing with PS2... it's kind of stuck around as that old warrior, many years after its launch. But there's still games launching for it."
Hiermee geeft John eigenlijk al aan dat Sony de PS3 ook nog gaat ondersteunen als de opvolger eenmaal op de markt is. Inderdaad, precies hetzelfde als met de PS2! De PS3 is al jaren op de markt, maar er komen nog steeds games uit voor de PS2. Voorlopig komt er dus nog genoeg content uit voor die ‘oude’ PS3.
